they're expected to clear your city coming up. and those overnight showers mean wet roadway conditions. i'll show you why green on my map is not a good thing today. >> wet here is nothing compared to what they have been dealing with in hoboken, new jersey. we'll have the very latest on the recovery efforts from hurricane sandy on this thursday, november 1st. this is "today in the bay." well, it is 5:00. good morning, everybody. thank you very much for joining us. i'm jon kelley. >> and i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> right now we can tell you a big, big step right now, hoping to get things back to normal in that aftermath of superstorm sandy. sfo says all the flights from the east coast will be on time today. and today mass transit is back online in new york city, but restrictions are still in place for thousands of -- millions of people actually trying to get through those bridges and tunnels. brooklyn's battery tunnel remains closed because it is

filled with water. you can see it here. the army corps of engineers just pumping the devices to begin it draining. parts of the long island railroad remain closed because tracks are blocked by downed trees and debris everywhere. just in, this is video from la guardia airport actually opening up in about an hour from right now, which was covered in rain yesterday we showed you. airlines running limited service in and out of all three new york airports. jfk and newark actually opened up yesterday. as we mentioned, flights are back on schedule at sfo. we just got off the phone with airport officials who say all scheduled flights to new york and newark are on time. it is still a good idea to check with your airline before departure. rain in the bay area may end up delaying some of those flights. san francisco police are turning to the internet to help them catch vandals who set a muni bus on fire during the world series celebration. police just released new video of that incident that happened

on sunday night. stephanie is live in the role people can play to help recognize the suspects. >> reporter: police recognizing just how fast information can spread online through facebook, twitter, sites like those. you may have seen a picture that went viral of a man smashing in a muni bus windshield with a barricade. now, sfpd made an arrest and they are crediting social media. police chief greg sur is hoping that new video released will lead to two more arrests. you see a guy throwing something on fire through the driver side of that muni bus before another guy strikes a pose of the crowd. the sharing of the picture of the man smashing in the window led to tips. that picture was reposted 20,000 times.

>> with the police maxed out and people upset by what's going on, this is not how the city should be acting, everyone knows that. so let's catch the guys who did this. >> this kind of behavior in san francisco, we will identify you, we will arrest you, we will prosecute you and you're going to pay for it. >> reporter: very strong message there. once again here's the video of the muni bus that was set on fire around 12:30 monday morning at market and 3rd streets. there had been a driver and eight passengers on board. the good news, they were able to get out safely before the vandalism really took off and started. the city attorney has made very clear the vandals will not only face criminal charges but likely civil charges as well so that taxpayers are not stuck with the bill. >> 5:03. oakland police are still searching for an armed suspect involved in a deadly shooting. investigators say the gunman allegedly shot and killed a man inside a metro pcs cell phone store in what they believe was a robbery.

it happened about 7:00 last night near the intersection of international boulevard and 92nd avenue. so far, no suspects. closing arguments today expected in the case against a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her friend at the richmond-san mateo toll bridge. nathan burress defending himself against charges he killed deborah roth and ersey everett. last week he appeared to incriminate himself when he asked a witness how he could have seen him fire the shot if his back was to her. if convicted, burress is eligible for the death penalty. a san jose police officer will receive a medal of honor for charging a gunman and saving a young kidnapping victim. he is a veteran with the unit that's a version of the s.w.a.t. team. he rescued an 11-year-old girl being held hostage by her mother's boyfriend. police found him in the apartment holding the little

girl in one arm. he also held a knife and gun. that's when jimenez took his shots. the kidnapper was actually killed and the little girl unharmed. some relief may be in sight to major lenders and counselors in san jose promising on the spot solutions to any homeowners under water. marla tellez is live at the san jose convention center where people at this hour are already starting to show up looking for help. marla, good morning. >> reporter: jon, good morning. this is an annual event called the american dream tour. it's designed to help people as you mentioned fight foreclosure, but also if you just want to buy a house, looking for a better interest rate or just trying to get your mortgage payment lowered, they will help you. i covered this last year and this event drew thousands of people. the line was wrapped around the block. unfortunately no line just yet. we suspect the rain has something to do with that. now, this event is put on by a nonprofit called naca. it's the neighborhood assistance corporation of america.

meteorologist christina loren is back in the building after a long day of doing this on the parade route yesterday. looking good on that nbc float out there. good to have you back. >> you know, i think you do that better than me, jon kelly. good morning to you. i'm kind of a wild child. we've got a good-looking day shaping up. once we get rid of the showers we've got a cold front draped across the bay area, mostly bringing rain to the east bay. right now watch out for slick conditions, especially if you're headed into the central valley. that's where the heaviest rainfall will be headed, but these showers quickly racing out of the bay area. watch out for slick conditions all the way to oakland has it has been raining the past couple of hours. we'll check on that drive with mike. as you know, when it rains out there, someone usually gets into some sort of an accident. 57 degrees in novato, 59 in san francisco. temperatures in the upper 50s all across the board. it's mild out there. with a mild start we'll easily climb into the 70s by the day's

end. 72 at 4:00 p.m. inland today, 67 bayside and 64 at the coast. showers coming to a close quickly probably by mid-morning but we'll leave the chance in the mix until 11:00. let's check on that drive right now. good morning, mike. >> good morning, christina. overnight rains leave a lot of water still on the roadway. there's nothing to dry it out. look at this shot, the orange glow is because of the city lights and of course because of the giants celebration. low clouds hovering around as well keeping the moist air in so there's no real evaporation going on on the roadways as far as your car is concerned. we'll give you a look at the maps and what that means for my roadway index. it looks like i colored in everything with green. green on the roads are good but green on the hills means the area is also soaked onto the roadways and the ground so watch that. also by contrast i'm pointing to that blue section over here just north through altamont. that's where there may be puddling and ponding on the roads and that's where the rain is coming through right now. 580 slow westbound because of

the wet roads and also the accident which is currently still in the center divide. a solo car accident, it sounds leak, and that may involve a big rig. solo car usually means a spinout on slick days like that, so be careful. a live look outside shows you the south bay as well. here you can see the pavement at the bottom of your screen. it's not really that wet but you do have that mist in the air. as you're coming into san jose, there is slick conditions and mist. back to you. oakland's real-life political troubles could soon become tv drama. abc announcing development of a new series called tentatively "city hall." according to a hollywood news site deadline.com the show will be loosely focused on mayor jean quan and her staff as they try to deal with a city in crisis while trying to maintain their own personal and social lives. the creator will head up the prougs on this one. no word on when the drama will be ready to air and no word on

welcome back, everyone. a good thursday morning to you. the world's largest social networking site could soon get even larger, bob redell is live in menlo park with facebook's expansion plans and why that's

putting it at odds with the city. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. when facebook moved to its new campus here at bay front expressway and willow road in menlo park, the city was worried about the traffic that may have been caused by thousands of employees. facebook paid to help mitigate those concerns. now the social media giant wants to expand to a new 22-acre campus down the street, more employees there. the city again is concerned about the impact. this time around facebook is telling menlo park, don't push it when it comes to asking for more money. last night at a city council meeting, the facebook cfo told councilmembers said the company doesn't feel it needs to pay a whole lot more considering the millions it has already forked over. the staff is recommending facebook pay something on an annual basis considering it doesn't generate sales tax revenue and it could impact city services. nothing has been finalized.

the city and facebook are still in a negotiating phase. reporting live here in menlo park, bob redell, "today in the bay." speaking of facebook, that stock taking a hit on wednesday, the very first day of trading so far this week, as employees flood the market with all that stock. scott, this is not the last time it's going to happen. >> that's right. the really big one comes later this month when three times as many shares will be able to trade. facebook shares fell about 3.5% on wednesday. not bad, especially considering they did have some head room. facebook's most recent financial filings drove the stock back up above $20 a share. so lots of employees were able to cash in. there's big news coming out of los gatos as well as billionaire carl icahn said he now owned about 10% of netflix. carl icahn is a corporate raider. that's the nice word for people who disrupt companies, hoping to spin their investment into something bigger. in this case the suspicion is he will try to convince netflix

board to sell the company, perhaps to amazon.com, in order to cash out and make icahn more money. the south bay has a long painful history with value investors, as they call themselves. we'll take a closer look at that coming up a little later at 6:00 this morning. big jobs report coming tomorrow. wall street trying to stay dry. we'll turn to jackie deangeles live at cnbc world headquarters. good morning, jackie. >> reporter: good morning, scott. the futures are pretty much flat after the markets resumed trading yesterday following the two-day shutdown due to monday's superstorm. yesterday stocks closed lower as the insurers weighed on the markets, of course on concerns about loss estimates from the storm, but trading went off without too much hitches. one market maker, though, knight capital, lost power, but that was able to be fixed and they rerouted their customers. meantime when all was said and done, the dow, the nasdaq and s&p 500 fell for the month of october, snapping a four-month win streak. today we'll get tons of economic

data. we're looking for the jobs report tomorrow but get some numbers on jobs today. manufacturing, consumer confidence, construction spending and productivity as well, so keep an eye out for those. we saw the dow losing ten points on wednesday closing at 13,096. the nasdaq also slipping 10 to 2977. >> all right, thank you much. you remember, jon and laura, during hurricane sandy they talked about the nyfd getting flooded. it turned out not to be true. they have identified who actually said that. we'll talk about that. >> and what happened to him. >> okay, scott, thank you very much. >> no fake tweeting. let's check the forecast. a little rainy this morning. is that going to let up? >> it is going to let up but it's going to make for a rough morning commute. i'm sure the little ones were all amped up on the sugar high last night from halloween. this afternoon temperatures are going to be nice and comfortable. the sun will come back out by

about noon today but we'll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. even when we rule out the bulk of the moisture, once that starts to clear, the front slides through by about noon, we'll have isolated activity. 56 degrees in sonoma, 59 to start. it's comfortable in san jose. this is the time of year you traditionally don't need the heater, don't need the ac and we'll get some great, great weather as we get into the upcoming weekend. so taking a live look at the doppler. you can see this front is lifting to the north and it's kind of falling apart, losing its organization as it does so, so these showers are letting up as we speak. as i said before, i think we'll see spotty activity throughout the day today, mostly among the mountains but not expecting a whole lot. here's a live look now. brentwood all the way to livermore, slick conditions. we stop the clock at 7:00 a.m. still getting a little activity over the santa cruz mountains and san jose, but look what happens as we head into the afternoon hours. 11:00 to about 1:00, clearing conditions and good sunshine,

roadway conditions. likely damp throughout the south bay. by contrast we move over where the rain is coming through and the blue on my maps will show you the potential for puddling and ponding. as you're coming in off the altamont pass, this red section slow because of a single car accident still in the center divide. keep in mind slick conditions. live looks outside, this is over here in fremont, smooth drive for 880. another live look will show you that this is the bay bridge where we still have some puddling and rooster tailing as water kicks up through the puddles. the peninsula also slick in spots, palo alto at university avenue. back to you. it's 5:20. a controversial new mandate takes effect for health care workers in contra costa an santa clara counties. it requires all health care workers to get a flu shot or wear a mask at work for the entire flu season. health officials say the mandate

is designed to protect patients who are already at higher risk for infection. union leaders say forcing employees to wear a mask for five months labels them with an unfair stigma. the designated flu season starts today and runs through march. ucla is just saying no about to become the very first uc campus to go tobacco-free. the university planning to ban smoking on campus starting april 22nd of next year. that is earth day 2013. while some students are on board, others not so happy. >> i would probably go downhill if i tried to stop smoking right in the middle of the school year. >> i think it's ridiculous to say you can't smoke anywhere on camp us. >> at least they have a heads up. the president has told all ten uc campuses to adopt the tobacco-free policy by 2014. it is 5:21. coming up -- a shark couldn't

roads. wet roads, slick conditions. we'll have more coming up. and a live look outside. hey, look at that. we're in november already. thursday, november 1st. this is "today in the bay." good morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> and i'm jon kelly. good morning, everybody. yes, that world series party is over but this morning that cleanup continues. crews working deep into the night trying to mop up after that giants big-time victory out there. yeah, that is the residue of a great bash. this was the scene at san francisco's civic center last night. all the wet weather not making this real easy, so those gentlemen working very, very hard to get things clean. in the meantime police are working hard to try to track down more vandals after sunday night's world series celebration got out of hand. we have new video to show you of two people actually setting a muni bus on fire. stephanie is live in san

francisco with more on why police are turning to social media to help catch those criminals. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. one of the local business owners of the red devil lounge posted a picture of the men vandals the muni bus and it was shared 20,000 times. that head lead to the arrest of the man suspected of the vandalism, 22-year-old gregory granite. the chief is hoping for two more arrests of vandalism of the same muni bus. police have released this video of one guy throwing something on fire through the driver's side before another guy runs up and looks like he's posing for the camera. there had been a driver and eight passengers on board. thankfully they were able to escape befo escape before the vandalism took

place. >> all of the people in social media land took huge exception to the man putting the barricade to the bus. they were instrumental in his arrest and we believe those same people will come forward and help us gut these two characters. >> reporter: here's a picture of the first man arrested for vandalism of that muni bus. the 22-year-old confessed to smashing in the muni windshield after the picture that appears to catch him in the act went viral. the social media exposure led to tips which then led to identification and then eventually the arrest. he is hoping the same will happen for the two caught on camera torching that muni bus. >> i'm sorry, but that is just idiotic. san francisco police investigating a double shooting that happened just blocks from that parade. two men were shot on leavenworth and turk around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. one victim was shot in the head. the other was treated at a hospital and then released. police right now still looking for suspects. they think the incident was

gang-related. and san francisco police will be addressing a recent spike in gang violence at a news conference later on today. pleasanton police now know the name of a woman whose remains were found stuffed inside a trash can in may. she's being identified as 24-year-old -- 25-year-old anna flores tenada of stockton. investigators have arrested javier sandoval in connection with her death. they also served a search warrant at the woman's home, which she reportedly shared with sandoval. san carlos police searching for four suspects in a smash and grab that happened in a peninsula consignment store. this all happened just after noon on tuesday at the home con 69ment store on industrial road in san carlos. the masked men used pepper spray to intimidate the store employees during the heist. they then took off in a new gray ford mustang that has two black racing stripes running down the center. anybody with any kind of information is asked to please call police. bay area cyclists will soon

have designated parking at candlestick. 49ers will install bike racks at the stick as soon as a decision is made where they'll go. team officials say they'll be in place next time for the home game again the st. louis rams. planners also considering bike parking at the 49ers stadium in santa clara. >> sounds like a cool plan. so does this one, kind of if you're not a kid. bay area dentists are giving kids an opportunity to trade in all their candy for other kinds of treats. in santa clara county, kids can exchange their candy for toys and toothbrushes. not a bad idea. parents like that. they drop off their candy. king road near story in san jose and el camino real near hallen beck avenue in sunnyvale. in the east bay dentists are paying kids for their candy. in alameda, pediatric dentistry offices giving cash for the

candy. they will pack the candy up and send it overseas for kids who don't have candy. >> for the troops. all right. that's pretty cool, i guess. i had to hide some candy from my kids, there was so much. >> i'm sure triplets bagging it. >> got to go to bed. it was fun. we're waking up to some rain, christina. >> yeah, we do have some rain. a lot of kids want candy for breakfast. it's a pad idea, kid os. 5:35. we're looking good out here this morning. we do have showers on the radar but mostly right now confined to the east bay and are clearing out quickly leaving us with a nice, dry bay area later on today. the highways are nice and slick and mike is tracking a couple of things right now. we'll check with him in just a moment. 57 in novato, 59 in san francisco. in the south bay we're at 59 in san jose. overall a mild start. area of low pressure is well to our north. it's actually lifting to the north an taking the front with it. high pressure will build back in the next 12 hours. as it does show, it will bring

about really comfortable weather for the weekend. a few showers this morning making way to a very sunny afternoon. 72 degrees in livermore, 68 in santa teresa and 66 today in san jose. you want to make those weekend plans, you start thinking about it on a thursday. we'll help you do so as we do have a good weekend, but it's going to be a little bit different saturday versus sunday. we'll talk about that coming up. let's talk to mike right now and check on that drive. >> like you said, that overnight rain may be leaving the area, but it left behind some souvenirs, raindrops on the road. this is what it looks like for 880 past the fremont truck scales. you see the sheen, the water an glow to the lights kicking up as cars pass through some puddles. there's water kicking up onto your windshield so you need to use those wipers. we'll look at my maps where speeds are dipping down a tad bit but also the green you see that's highlighted or colored in on the ms as well. that means the roadways and ground likely wet through these areas. starting to change, though. starting to get fewer of those

throughout the bay. i'm pointing to the blue as well at the top of your screen, maybe some puddling out of the altamont. but looking at west 580, that red section all the way over to north livermore, still have an accident an maybe a big rig from an earlier incident around north livermore, big distractions out of the altamont but smoother toward the dublin interchange. live look outside, we'll end with the bay bridge toll plaza shot. you see water here as you're coming toward the toll plaza. the puddles kicking up into the cars behind them and they're getting sloecloser together an there's there slowing off the berkeley curve. it is 5:37 right now. counting down to the big day. just days left until that election and the campaigning jumping into hyperoverdrive. we'll go live to washington coming up. plus the cleanup continues after sandy. crews will be in new york subways to try to pump out all of that water today. we've got a live report coming up. and right now we take you out to the east coast, just ravaged by sandy. all these pictures coming in. this is in toms river.

welcome back, everyone. take k a live look outside. times square. over the past few days it has been very, very quiet there, especially when hurricane sandy moved in, but now things getting back better, i should say this morning. look, a little sun strip there shining down on that area. they have got so much cleanup to do it is quite remarkable. it is 5:40. a marin county teen accused of murder and stealing a lamborghini is expected back in court to reenter his plea. max wade accused of stealing celebrity chef guy fieri's

lamborghini from a san francisco dealership. he's also accused of trying to kill a teenage couple. wade is expected to be formally arraigned and enter his plea sometime today. bay area nurses will be on strike this morning protesting their contract with sutter health. the california nurses association has already gone on strike five times since september of 2011 in an attempt to negotiate a new contract. the one-day strike affects seven hospitals affiliated with sutter health in the east bay. the hospital has already hired replacement nurses. meantime, laura, on the campaign trail mitt romney hard at work spending all day today in virginia, while president obama returns to the campaign trail after surveying all that damage left behind by sandy. tracie potts is live on capitol hill with that final push on that campaign trail. good morning. >> reporter: jon, good morning. we're looking at the president's schedule today and it's a busy one. wisconsin, nevada, colorado and he will make his final argument,

aides say, focusing on the middle class. he was in new jersey with governor christie yesterday looking over that storm damage. meantime today, governor romney is going to be in virginia. just in virginia. but he's got three stops there, a busy schedule as well as he moves around that battleground state. our latest polls are showing virginia and florida, by the way, where he was yesterday, really too close to call. the president has an ever-so-slight lead but essentially that it's a tie in those two states. nbc polls give the president a six-point lead in iowa, three in wisconsin, two in new hampshire. both of those last two within the margin of error. so still a very tight race, even after they took a few days off from campaigning. >> tracie, with these polls neck in neck showing them up against each other, we're hearing a federal court in ohio has ruled people that show up at the wrong precinct will not be able to have their votes count there. how is this going to affect

things? >> reporter: it's interesting because that same court said if you have two precincts in the same place and the person goes to the right place but votes in the wrong precinct, that one is going to count. so if you're physically in the right building, your vote can count. but if you show up -- if you moved and show up at the old precinct, they're not going to count that. bottom line the court says it's too late in the game with five days to go to start changing the rule, especially in a battleground state like ohio. >> they want to avoid everything that happened like in 2000. tracie potts, thank you very much. new this morning, in saudi arabia the death toll continues to rise following a massive explosion. at least 22 people are dead, more than 100 hurt after a fuel truck hit a bridge in the capital city of riyadh earlier this morning. the explosion was so powerful it collapsed a nearby building, destroying several cars. saudi officials believe it was an accident and not a terrorist attack. police in hollywood right

now searching for a gunman who shot into the crowd of halloween revelers, injuring a total of three people. this all happened about 10:00 last night. a crazy scene out on hollywood boulevard. this morning a 17-year-old boy remains in critical condition. a 14-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man suffered minor injuries. dozens of police swarming that scene, some in riot gear trying to control the crowds and tried to close down -- they had to close down that street for more than an hour. the alameda county district attorney right now instructing prosecutors to allow some immigrants to avoid convictions in order to avoid automatic deportation. the new policy was announced yesterday for legal immigrants who have been convicted of misdemeanors. they could be given jail sentences or other penalties instead of the mandatory deportation. the guidelines affect only legal immigrants who have not yet gained u.s. citizenship. santa clara county has already been following a similar policy since last year. 5:44. the city of sanly appe leandrleg

down on styrofoam. starting today a ban goes into effect at all restaurant in city limits. they say styrofoam is not recyclable and pollutes public places. millions of people surrounded by water windchill others have nowhere to call home. daniel lee is live in toms river, new jersey, with a look at what is happening today as people are trying to recover. >> reporter: good morning. many of those popular places cut off from the rest of society today. officials saying it's just not safe to go there. here where i'm standing lots of debris littering the streets, pieces of people's homes. today the cleanup effort will begin clearing the streets of debris, getting streets passable so people can go assess the damage. that is where they are focused right now. so many people want to see their

homes and what is let of them. meanwhile across the region a massive cleanup and recovery effort is under way. we saw people in long, long lines for gas yesterday. we're expecting that to continue today. many people just wanting to get gas for their cars, two stocking up on gas for their generators and, three, they have been cooped up quite a long time. i saw equally long lines just for a hot cup of coffee. new york city is trying to get back to normal. the subways are reopening today. they have been shut down for several days. really a historic event. that said, there is still certain areas where public transportation is not accessible. that is because roads are just still impassable. finally, in queens, people are trying to pull out of the destruction there after fire ripped through that area, destroying one neighborhood, virtually more than 100 homes. the amazing thing about all of this, despite all of the suffering, you see people coming together, helping each other and these communities being resilient, promising to

rebichlrebuild. many of them holding on to the president's promises yesterday saying they will expedite the recovery. people four days out of power are ready to get back to normal, if possible. >> i'm sure that will be tough with the mess they have to deal with. >> it was a great scene to see president obama and governor christie out there unified. forgetting on all politics and let's just focus on a recovery. >> a lot of people without power but many people without homes having to live with strangers. it's really, really tough. we on the other hand are getting some of the best weather that we get all year long. as you know it's the beginning of fall here in the bay area and we have some really good-looking numbers. we're getting a little shower activity but that's really nothing and we need that rain. as wed in throughout this afternoon, temperatures will climb from the 50s and low 60s into the 70s. good-looking day shaping up for outdoor activities, but we're talking about showers just for the first part of the day.

59 in san jose, 57 in gilroy. we've got low visibility only in certain parts of the bay area. you're dropping off a little bit in san jose and oakland, but overall the sky is just overcast. we're not tracking a lot of fog right at the surface this morning, which is good news because the highways are slick out there. it's been raining overnight. this is where the front currently sits. it's draped across stockton. we've got some showers along 5, but most of the activity is clearing out of the bay area and that will continue to be the trend as we head throughout the morning hours. we stop the clock on your futurecast at 9:00 a.m. just a little spotty activity around the mountains in san jose. those will enclosure out by 11:00, 12:ju:00. just isolated activity. the sun will come out between 12:00 and 4:00. yesterday we didn't see much sunshine and temperatures were cool, so as a result 72 in livermore, 65 for fremont and 66 today in san francisco. so a showery commute today. by tomorrow we'll get that crisp, clean air of sunshine. and then saturday after we get through some thick fog, it's

well. 85 holding steady but that will follow over the next half hour. now, we overlay some green. i've colored it in because overnight rains leave the ground wet in this area as well. not so slick for the south bay but we've had slick conditions throughout 580 past the altamont. the blue up here shows some puddling possible for those local roads as well. but look at all this red. still very slow all the way towards north livermore in your westbound 580 direction. an earlier accident looks like it may be moving to the shoulder. that's why we're seeing a tad bits of a break but that will be a problem out of the altamont, maybe providing a little bit of a break over towards pleasanton. on the other side of the way we're looking at the city. right around 280 at mariposa and 101 at paul, overnight reports of flooding on the roadway. the freeway is open and i don't see a lot of slowing. meanwhile the green starting to break up here. we'll look at the east shore freeway coming off the carquinez bridge past the racetrack with all these lights here.

now, the zoo keepers have dubbed her lucky. they considered posey and scutaro for names but romo just stuck. >> congratulations, romo, you're now officially a monkey. a republican congressional campaign manager apologizing for fake tweets he wrote during the east coast storm. scott mcgrew, these are more than just rumors. >> yeah, they really were. he is or was a campaign manager and a hedge fund analyst. he said this morning he's sorry for anonymous tweets he sent out during the storm. he said there were plans to shut down power in new york, that the floor of the new york stock exchange had been flooded. they looked really legitimate. here's an example. breaking, he would write. confirmed flooding on the nyse. the trading floor is flooded under more than three feet of water. none of this was true, low cnn and the weather channel both quoted the tweets on air identifying them as unconfirmed. what he did was -- why he did this, not clear.
